A product with a strong tradition in Portugal, Água Mel is made after prolonged boiling in water of the remains of honey that remain in the combs. It has antioxidant, antimicrobial and antiviral properties that can be attributed to phenols and melanoidins.
It can be used to spread on bread, make cakes or, in a more gourmet version, as a salad dressing.
